From the School of Public Health to The Lancet: 479 signatures in support of WHO
Professor Ivana Božičević, PhD and Professor Stjepan Orešković, PhD, Directors of the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for HIV Epidemic Monitoring at the Andrija Štampar School of Public Health, have published an Open Letter of Support to the World Health Organization in The Lancet. The letter was signed by 479 Directors of the World Health Organization Collaborating Centres from all continents. This is a confirmation of the support that the Collaborating Centres, located at leading scientific institutions in the field of medicine, provide in preserving the core functions of the World Health Organization. This calls on Member States and donors to strengthen their investments in the mission of the World Health Organization, and thus in global health security based on the principles of equity, solidarity and health as a fundamental human right.
We are particularly pleased to note that the authors of this important international document are our professors from the Andrija Štampar School of Public Health, Faculty of Medicine, University of Zagreb. Their work represents an exceptional contribution to the international public health community and the reputation of Croatian science.
