Andrija Štampar’s diaries included in the UNESCO Memory of the World Register

It is with great pride and pleasure that we inform the public that the Diaries of Andrija Štampar have been officially included in the prestigious UNESCO Memory of the World Register. This exceptional international honor represents a great recognition not only for Croatia and its cultural and historical heritage, but also for our institution – the Andrija Štampar School of Public Health and the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zagreb.

The inclusion of Štampar's diaries among the most important written traces of humanity confirms the global value of his work and legacy in the fields of public health, education, international cooperation and humanism. This recognition is given special weight by the fact that previously only the Dubrovnik Archive from Croatia had been included on the UNESCO list, one of the most important archives in Europe in terms of the quantity and diversity of preserved material. In this context, the success of Andrija Štampar's Diaries is even stronger and testifies more strongly to its invaluable value. We thank everyone who participated in the preparation of this nomination and congratulate all the collaborators and guardians of Štampar's legacy.
